MATCH REPORT: CHELSEA 3 SCHALKE 0

Summary Chelsea's position in Group E was greatly strengthened by our third straight win in the competition, a Samuel Eto'o double strike and a late goal from substitute Demba Ba giving us back-to-back victories over the Bundesliga side.

If Eto'o's first goal tonight owed a lot an opposition mistake, the second certainly didn't when he capped a swift move with an emphatic finish. Schalke had threatened early on but were kept at bay for most of the game althoughPetr Cech was called on early in the second half with the score 1-0.

Team News
As he promised, Jose Mourinho made changes, six in total with Cesar Azpilicueta playing left-back as he had in Germany two weeks ago. Gary Cahill, John Mikel Obi, Willian and Andre Schurrle all returned to the side, and Eto'o replaced injured Fernando Torres in attack.

Schalke's changes from the first meeting were in attack too with Adam Szalai back as striker and Kevin-Prince Boateng dropping back. Christian Fuchs came into midfield.

First halfHaving excelled in two away Champions League games since the Basel defeat, it was time to exorcise the ghost of that night from the Bridge as we returned home for a European night. However the first proper chance this evening was manufactured by the Germans and it was a good effort too - Julian Draxler rolling a shot worryingly close to the target after the stretching Mikel couldn't cut out a ball across from the right. Then Szalai hit the same section of boarding behind the goal as the Blues were left short of men at the back. That was two early escapes in the first five minutes. Mikel later lost the ball in our half as he took time to settle into his first Champions League start of the season but this time the Schalke shot didn't go anywhere close.

Chelsea's way of gaining a foothold on the game was a period of sustained, careful possession without pushing forward too much, a couple of Willian-led counter-attacks apart.

On 18 minutes, Draxler was booked for impeding Azpilicueta 30 yards out and it was the opportunity for the Blues to test Timo Hildebrand for the first time. Schurrle did just that with a well-flighted free-kick to the near top corner. The save was not the most graceful but it was effective, and earned congratulations from the keeper's team-mates. The score remained 0-0.

Schalke were playing with Boateng often up close to Szalai in attack, keeping the Chelsea centre-backs well occupied. Terry needed treatment when caught in the face by the elbow of Szalai.

Schurrle had struck a shot wide in open play as the search for a lead continued but the manner in which we took it with half an hour played was so unexpected the live TV coverage almost missed it. Those in the stadium saw Hildebrand inexplicably delay a kick upfield so long that Eto'o's chase down was rewarded, the eventual clearance bouncing off the striker and into the net.

This time there were certainly no congratulations from his team-mates for the former German international - only barracking from the home support every time he took a kick for the rest of the game.

There were also no questions over the legality of the goal this time either, unlike the last time Eto'o tried to catch a keeper unawares at the Shed End. A year ago Fernando Torres had similar joy at that end of the stadium too, early on in a match against Shakhtar Donetsk .

On this night against German opposition, Eto'o had a chance eight minutes later but spooned his shot tamely at the keeper. Neither side went close again before the interval.

Second halfSix minutes after the restart, it was time for Chelsea players to thank their goalie - Cech having saved splendidly from Draxler after the young German seemed certain to score, having stepped inside Azpilicueta after a throw had been allowed to go a long way.

Two minutes later, Eto'o doubled his tally and the Chelsea lead with deadly, stylish finishing. It was Chelsea counter-attacking at its best after the ball was given away by the visitors in our half. Willian played the perfect pass out to the three-times Champions League winner who knew exactly what to do.

Schalke now looked a beaten side. Hildebrand spilled a Schurrle shot but no one was following up closely and Jermaine Jones was booked for barging Willian over as another Chelsea break was very much on the cards. There was a near action replay when Atsuto Uchida took out Schurrle to earn the same punishment.

Demba Ba, one of three players brought on inside the final 15 minutes, should have tested Hildebrand more than he did with a shot but with 82 minutes on the clock and with his second opportunity, he hit the back of the net for the first time this season.

Having won an aerial challenge himself, the striker stayed onside as another substitute, Frank Lampard, lifted the ball over the defence and half-volleyed the ball into the bottom corner.

This was not a game that will live long in the memory, there were not enough incidents for that, but since defeat in the opening game of this season's Champions League we have won three, scored 10 goals and conceded none, a fine response to defeat. Basel drew at home to Steaua Burcharest tonight and a good result in Switzerland in our next game should see us through.

MIKEL: PUTTING THINGS RIGH

The selection of John Mikel Obi was one of six changes that Jose Mourinho decided to make for last night's game, with the Nigerian playing the full 90 minutes in central midfield alongside Ramires and later Frank Lampard. It was his first start in the Champions League this season and the midfielder impressed, completing 94% of his passes and winning all of his tackles. The 26-year-old is impressed with the manner in which we have turned around our fortunes in Europe, following a disappointing start to our Champions League campaign.

'The first game against Basel wasn't a great performance or result, but since then we've won every game in the group,'Mikel pointed out. 'We had to perform under pressure in the Champions League and we have dealt with that pressure. You can say we are in the driving seat now, and it was very important to put ourselves in that position.

'We talked about it before the game last night, that if we won we would be in a very good position to qualify. We took our chances against Schalke and if we win our next game we will be nearly there. We have to keep playing well and do what the manager wants us to do, together as a team; when we do that he's a very happy guy.

'He said how disappointed he was after the Newcastle game and I think that's what you expect from your manager because we all expect to win every game. We were all very disappointed with the way we performed against Newcastle, those that were playing and those that weren't, but we managed to put it right tonight. It was a fantastic win for us; we scored three goals and played well.'

Mikel also spoke of his delight for Samuel Eto'o, whose two goals yesterday were his first in European competition for Chelsea. Following on from the recent goalscoring exploits of Fernando Torres, as well as Demba Ba's first of the season last night, Mikel is not surprised that our strikers are starting to find the back of the net with such regularity.

'I think Samuel (Eto'o) is quite different from Fernando (Torres), who is more direct, but he is a fantastic player as well. He knows when to run, when to stay and when to move. His ability with the ball is fantastic,' said Mikel.

'He worked really hard for his first goal. He does it in training; he's a striker who loves to press, and it's our duty to do that behind him in midfield as well. The second was a well-taken finish past the keeper, and we see that all the time.

'We've got some brilliant strikers and we all knew it was just a matter of time before they started scoring. Samuel is a fantastic player and we all know what he can bring to this Chelsea side.'

ARTIKEL SEPAK BOLA

A. Pengertian Sepak bola

Sepak bola adalah salah satu olahraga yang sangat populer di dunia. Dalam pertandingan, olahraga ini dimainkan oleh dua kelompok berlawanan yang masing-masing berjuang untuk memasukkan bola ke gawang kelompok lawan. Masing-masing kelompok beranggotakan sebelas pemain, dan karenanya kelompok tersebut juga dinamakan kesebelasan.

B. Peraturan resmi sepak bola adalah:

• Offside
• Pelanggaran
• Tendangan Bebas
• Tendangan penalti
• Lemparan Dalam
• Tendangan Gawang
• Tendangan Sudut

Selain peraturan-peraturan di atas, keputusan-keputusan Badan Asosiasi Sepak bola Internasional (IFAB) lainnya turut menambah peraturan dalam sepak bola. Peraturan-peraturan lengkapnya dapat ditemukan di situs web FIFA.

C. TEKNIK DASAR PERMAINAN SEPAKBOLA

Untuk bermain bola dengan baik pemain dibekali dengan teknik dasar yang baik. Pemain yang memiliki teknik dasar yang baik pemain tersebut cenderung dapat bermain sepakbola dengan baik pula. Beberapa teknik dasar yang perlu dimiliki pemain sepakbola adalah Menendang ( kicking ), Menghentikan atau Mengontrol ( stoping ), Menggiring ( dribbling ), Menyundul ( heading ), Merampas ( tacling ), Lemparan Kedalam ( trow – in ) dan Menjaga Gawang ( Goal Keeping ). Dibawah ini akan dijelaskan beberapa teknik Menendang, Menghentikan, dan Mengiring bola dalam permainan Sepakbola.

D. Taktik Permainan

Taktik yang biasa dipakai oleh klub-klub sepak bola adalah sebagai berikut:
4-4-2 , 4-3-2-1 , 4-5-1 , 3-4-3 , 3-5-2 , 4-3-3

Taktik yang dipakai oleh sebuah tim selalu berubah tergantung dari kondisi yang terjadi selama permainan berlangsung. Pada intinya ada tiga taktik yang digunakan yaitu; Bertahan, Menyerang dan Normal.

E. Ofisial

Sebuah pertandingan diperintah oleh seorang wasit yang mempunyai “wewenang penuh untuk menjalankan pertandingan sesuai Peraturan Permainan dalam suatu pertandingan yang telah diutuskan kepadanya” (Peraturan 5), dan keputusan-keputusan pertandingan yang dikeluarkannya dianggap sudah final. Sang wasit dibantu oleh dua orang asisten wasit (dulu dipanggil hakim/penjaga garis). Dalam banyak pertandingan wasit juga dibantu seorang ofisial keempat yang dapat menggantikan seorang ofisial lainnya jika diperlukan.

F. Tim

Setiap tim maksimal memiliki sebelas pemain, salah satunya haruslah penjaga gawang. Kadang-kadang ada peraturan kejuaraan yang mengharuskan jumlah minimum pemain dalam sebuah tim (biasanya delapan).Sang penjaga gawang diperbolehkan untuk mengambil bola dengan tangan atau lengannya di dalam kotak penalti di depan gawangnya.
Pemain lainnya dalam kedua tim dilarang untuk memegang bola dengan tangan atau lengan mereka ketika bola masih dalam permainan, namun boleh menggunakan bagian tubuh lainnya. Pengecualian terhadap peraturan ini berlaku ketika bola ditendang keluar melewati garis dan lemparan dalam dilakukan untuk mengembalikan bola ke dalam permainan. Sejumlah pemain (jumlahnya berbeda tergantung liga dan negara) dapat digantikan oleh pemain cadangan pada masa permainan. Alasan umum digantikannya seorang pemain termasuk cedera, keletihan, kekurangefektifan, perubahan taktik, atau untuk membuang sedikit waktu pada akhir sebuah pertandingan. Dalam pertandingan standar, pemain yang telah diganti tidak boleh kembali bermain dalam pertandingan tersebut.
Lapangan yang digunakan biasanya adalah lapangan rumput yang berbentuk persegi empat. Dengan panjang 91.4 meter dan lebar 54.8 meter. Pada kedua sisi pendek, terdapat gawang sebesar 24 x 8 kaki, atau 7,32 x 2,44 meter.

G. Lama permainan

Lama permainan sepak bola normal adalah 2×45 menit, ditambah istirahat selama 15 menit (kadang-kadang 10 menit). Jika kedudukan sama imbang, maka diadakan perpanjangan waktu selama 2×15 menit, hingga didapat pemenang, namun jika sama kuat maka diadakan adu penalti.

Kebanyakan pertandingan biasanya berakhir setelah kedua babak tersebut, dengan sebuah tim memenangkan pertandingan atau berakhir seri. Meskipun begitu, beberapa pertandingan, terutamanya yang memerlukan pemenang mengadakan babak tambahan yang disebut perpanjangan waktu kala pertandingan berakhir imbang: dua babak yang masing-masing sepanjang 15 menit dimainkan. Hingga belum lama ini, IFAB telah mencoba menggunakan beberapa bentuk dari sistem ‘sudden death’, namun mereka kini telah tidak digunakan. Jika hasilnya masih imbang setelah perpanjangan waktu, beberapa kejuaraan mempergunakan adu penalti untuk menentukan sang pemenang. Ada juga kejuaraan lainnya yang mengharuskan pertandingan tersebut untuk diulangi.
Perlu diperhatikan bahwa gol yang dicetak sewaktu babak perpanjangan waktu ikut dihitung ke dalam hasil akhir, berbeda dari gol yang dihasilkan dari titik penalti yang hanya digunakan untuk menentukan pemenang pertandingan.

H. Wasit sebagai pengukur waktu resmi

Wasit yang memimpin pertandingan sejumlah 1 orang dan dibantu 2 orang sebagai hakim garis. Kemudian dibantu wasit cadangan yang membantu apabila terjadi pergantian pemain dan mengumumkan tambahan waktu. Pada Piala Dunia 2006, digunakan ofisial ke-lima. Penggunaan 2 wasit sempat dicoba pada copa italia.Penggunaan 4 hakim garis kabarnya juga dicoba di piala dunia 2010,dimana 2 diantaranya berada di belakang gawang.
